Empowering Local Communities, Inc. (ELC) is a local non-profit corporation that was established in 2007 to develop and disseminate tools to help Tucson become a more sustainable community.
The Green Retrofit Co-op, a project of ELC, is designed to teach people the skills needed to help them improve their own homes and help each other, in samll groups and in large ones, including neighborhood-scale projects.
Teaching & Helping Mentor Program
Teaching & Helping Mentor Team stems from the Teaching & Helping program funded by Pima County to allow experienced professionals to train volunteers to repair the homes of low-income families.
The Teaching & Helping Mentor Team, a project of ELC, is designed to serve the Green Retrofit Co-op, to develop and disseminate Best Practices in sustainable remodeling, and to provide job training programs for the remodeling industry and schools.
