A new year has dawned and as I review the past calendar year and count my blessings, I want you to know how much I appreciate your efforts to retrofit my home for energy savings.
What a huge success story this is! I was so pleased with the sense of community that arose from drawing together such a talented and diverse crew of people to help me change out my single-paned windows to double-paned, to blow insulation into my attic space, and to install weather stripping around my doors. I could not have afforded to take on these projects without your help.
In addition to the strong camaraderie that developed and the learning that transpired on that workday in May, I have been delighted with the financial savings reflected in my utility bills. My gas bills have dropped from around $45 per month on average to $15. I wish we could provide this service to all Tucson residents. What a great way to save energy, build community, train workers, and boost the security and comfort of homeowners!
Besides saving energy, the comfort and security provided by the upgrades have been remarkable. I can sleep with my bedroom window open in the spring and summer without worrying about a break-in. I feel so snug and comfortable in my home since the upgrades. It is amazing how much better the house retains a consistent ambient temperature when it fluctuated so much and so quickly before the improvements.
So a huge and heartfelt “THANK YOU!!” to the ELC crew. I deeply appreciate your time, your expertise, and your willingness to devote your time and attention to improving the community. I'm wishing you continued success as your wonderful program takes root and grows.
